|I have always tried to be the best I can be in life. I thought this meant getting a good education, being successful at work, and being a good husband, son, brother, and friend. I would never have guessed it meant having to fight through stage 3B colon cancer in my late 20ís. |
Soon after my diagnosis in February of 2013, I underwent partial colectomy surgery at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, and after 3 weeks of recovery, I began chemotherapy treatments. Every day I became more determined to not only get better myself, but to help others in their fight against cancer. I want to do everything I can to keep others from ever having to go through what I went through or at least make their experience a little easier.
The Lahey Health 5k Cancer Walk & Run is a prime example of my purpose to help others in anyway possible, whether it is fundraising, talking to people going through what I have, or just being a reminder to get regular colonoscopy screenings to help prevent colon cancer.
In February of 2014, I received a clean bill of health at my 1-year checkup. I am grateful for all the wonderful doctors and nurses at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center who have given me such an exceptional level of care.
